Biden’s former press secretary shares ghoulish theory of why Republicans are still supporting Trump

Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki turned to ‘morbid’ thoughts when contemplating why some Republicans continue to support Republican Donald Trump.

The Biden flack-turned MSNBC host ruminated on the subject in an appearance on NBC’s ‘Morning Joe,’ where she discussed former Trump AG Bill Barr‘s decision to throw his support to Trump, 77, despite calling his theories of large-scale election fraud ‘bull****.’

‘I think many of them want to be close to power. They also assume or have this thought in their mind that “maybe Donald Trump will go away,’ Psaki said on the program.

‘Maybe he’ll go to jail. Maybe he will die. Not to be too morbid, but maybe, I mean, he’s not a young man. Who knows what’s in their minds? They think, “Maybe I will be behind the Oval Office. Maybe I will be in the Oval Office.”

Psaki, who preceded Karine Jean-Pierre as press secretary to President Joe Biden, 81, applauded former state Lieutenant Gov. Geoff Duncan for his decision to cross party lines to support her former boss, and wondered why more leading Republicans don’t do the same.

Duncan criticized Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Barr, and New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu, calling their reasoning ‘dead wrong.’

‘There needs to be more Geoff Duncans out there,’ said Psaki, a former Obama official who is hawking a new book, called ‘Say More.’

She blasted officials who are hugging Trump with opportunities to get on his vice presidential list or land an important perch should he retake the White House, in an appearance flagged by the Washington Examiner.

She said of South Carolina GOP Sen. Tim Scott, ‘That’s embarrassing to watch.  Cringey. I’ve watched it many times.’

But she was flummoxed as to Barr’s reasoning after his criticism of Trump. Barr revealed his decision after publicly breaking with Trump, saying he was more concerned about the risk from the ‘far left’ under Biden.

‘That guy’s not going to be in government again,’ she said. ‘Those are people who are fearful of the mob coming out against them.’
