Honda has issued a recall of nearly 1.2 million cars across the United States due to a visibility issue with the vehicle’s rearview camera. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that the image may not appear on the dashboard screen for certain models, which can decrease driver visibility and increase the risk of a crash. Well, isn’t that just dandy? You’re driving down the road, and all of a sudden, your rearview camera goes out, leaving you feeling like a blind bat. But don’t worry, Honda’s got your back.

The affected models include some Odyssey minivans from 2018 to 2023, Pilot SUVs from 2019 to 2022, and Passport SUVs from 2019 to 2023. If you own one of these models, make sure to check out USA TODAY’s automotive recall database or search NHTSA’s database for new recalls. The NHTSA website also allows you to search for recalls based on your vehicle identification number, or VIN.

Honda reported that the problem is due to “a faulty coaxial cable connector.” It’s like that one little thing that can ruin your whole day. You know, like when you’re in a great mood, and then you get a paper cut or stub your toe? Yeah, that’s kind of what this feels like. But at least Honda is owning up to their mistake and doing something about it.

If you’re an affected car owner, dealer will replace most cable harness free and install a straightening cover over the vehicle cable connector. So, if you’re feeling like you’re in the dark when you’re backing up, don’t fret. Honda’s got this.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed out on July 24, according to the NHTSA. (nhtsa.gov) (usatoday.com) And if you’re feeling worried or have any questions, you can contact Honda at 1-888-234-2138. You can also call NHTSA’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.

So, let’s all take a moment to appreciate Honda for looking out for us and making sure we can see where we’re going. It’s the little things that count, after all. Oh, and while we’re at it, let’s all take a moment to appreciate all the things we take for granted, like rearview cameras and the ability to see. (usatoday.com) Because, let’s be real, we don’t want to be driving around like Stevie Wonder.

In conclusion, if you’re an affected car owner, don’t be too upset. Honda’s got your back, and they’re going to fix your rearview camera for you. And if you’re not an affected car owner, well, aren’t you fancy? Just kidding. But seriously, let’s all be grateful for the little things in life, like being able to see. (usatoday.com) Because, at the end of the day, it’s the little things that make life worth living. 😊 (usatoday.com)
