Famous golfer Greg Norman and his wife, interior designer Kirsten Kutner, are facing a lawsuit filed in March by a high school girl who was allegedly sexually assaulted by two boys during a party at the couple’s Palm Beach Gardens mansion. The girl claims that alcohol was served to minors at the party, including herself and her alleged attackers. According to the lawsuit, Kutner served the girl and her daughter drinks before other guests arrived, and more alcohol was served throughout the party. The girl allegedly became so intoxicated that she was “incapable of standing on her own and was seen stumbling around the party.” The lawsuit further alleges that two boys, also drunk, sexually assaulted her on the grass next to the pool.
The lawsuit accuses Norman and Kutner of failing to ensure the girl’s safety, well-being, and sobriety at their home by illegally providing alcohol to her and other teens. The girl and her parents are seeking unspecified damages for pain, suffering, mental anguish, and loss of enjoyment.
Norman, who leads the controversial, Saudi-backed LIV Golf tour, and his wife have not yet commented on the allegations. The couple purchased their 12,000-square-foot mansion for $12 million in May 2021, just five months before the alleged attack.
Norman is a former professional golfer who has won 20 PGA tournaments and another 71 internationally, including two wins at the British Open. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2001 and has also had a successful business career in golf course design, clothing, wine, and real estate. Forbes Magazine estimates his net worth at $400 million.
The lawsuit was filed in March of this year, but news of the allegations has only just come to light. The girl’s attorneys have not yet commented on the case, and it is unclear whether a criminal complaint was ever filed with the Palm Beach Gardens police department.
This shocking news has raised questions about the safety of minors at parties where alcohol is served. It serves as a reminder that adults have a responsibility to ensure the safety of minors in their care, and that serving alcohol to minors is both illegal and dangerous.
