Susan Dey’s Life After “The Partridge Family” and Her Crush on David Cassidy

Susan Dey became a major TV star of the 1970s when she was just 18. Let’s take a look at her life today!

How many of you remember watching “The Partridge Family”? If you were a fan, you likely remember the beautiful Laurie Partridge, played by actress Susan Dey.

When Susan was offered the role in the ABC series, which aired for four years from 1970 to 1974, she had no prior acting experience. However, casting her was the right choice as she was incredibly talented and appeared as though she had been in front of the camera many times before.

The adventures of the singing family, who traveled from place to place in a refurbished psychedelic school bus, captured the hearts of many. After its success in the States, it became a huge hit in the U.K., and the cast gained immense popularity.

Susan’s co-star, David Cassidy, who played Keith on the show, quickly became a teen idol adored by many girls. Among his admirers was Susan herself, who had a crush on him for a long time. They only started dating after the show ended. Their relationship was short-lived, and they remained friends until David published his book, “C’mon, Get Happy: Fear and Loathing on the Partridge Family Bus,” in which he shared intimate details about his relationship with Susan. He mentioned ending their relationship because she was “too innocent” for him.

This revelation made Susan upset. She vowed never to speak to him again and even refused to attend a cast reunion years later.

Since “The Partridge Family,” Susan has appeared in many movies and TV shows and even authored a book titled “Susan Dey’s Secrets on Boys, Beauty, and Popularity.”

Over the years, she earned six Golden Globe and three Emmy award nominations, eventually winning a Golden Globe for Best Actress for her role as Grace Van Owen in “L.A. Law.”

According to Worldation.com, Susan turned down the role of Sandy in “Grease,” and Olivia Newton-John, who played Sandy, was initially offered the role of Laurie in “The Partridge Family” but was convinced by her manager not to accept it.

Today, Susan enjoys a quiet life with her husband and family in New York, where she grew up. Although she is no longer in the spotlight, she will always be remembered for making our younger years memorable with her role in “The Partridge Family.” No matter how much time passes, such series are never forgotten.
