His friends burst into laughter when they saw his tiny house. But once they stepped inside, they were left in awe. For the cost of a phone, this young genius constructed a home!
The prodigious Luke Thiull, only 13 years old, is far from your typical teenager. While most kids are preoccupied with school crushes or gym class, Luke was busy creating something extraordinary.
For the price of an iPhone, Luke from Iowa built his dream house in his backyard! Take a look inside!
While most teenagers are glued to their computer and smartphone screens, Luke chose to put in some traditional hard work.
He explains everything on his YouTube Channel, sharing how he had a burning desire to build his own house.
After much thought, planning, and research, Luke finalized his idea and set out to bring it to life.
It took him about a year to gather the necessary funds and materials to build his dream house. He mowed lawns, held fundraisers, and did any odd jobs he could to raise the money, just like a true entrepreneur!
He received some help with the electrical work from a neighbor in exchange for cleaning out his garage. Talk about resourceful!
Interestingly, 75% of the house is built from recycled materials and leftover items from his grandmother’s house. However, the front door was a gift from his uncle.
The entire house measures about 89 square feet, 10 feet in length, and around 5 and a half feet wide. It has electricity but no plumbing, so there’s no shower or toilet sink yet!
Luke said: “I liked the minimalism, and I wanted to have a house without a huge mortgage.”
Luke has uploaded many videos on his YouTube Channel detailing the project, sparking curiosity from many viewers.
While Luke received a lot of support from his parents, his dad Greg made sure that Luke paid for most of it himself.
Greg said: “It was a chance for a kid to do something more than play video games or sports. It teaches life lessons.”
The house is every teenager’s dream, a sanctuary for alone time and personal space. It has a microwave, TV, and a loft with a bed. Oh, yes! There’s even a BBQ in the back!
Luke does his homework in his own house and sometimes sleeps there at night!
This kind of ambition at such a young age will take him far in life! He also aims to inspire others, regardless of their age.
He said: “I want to show kids it’s possible to build at this age.”
