Bruce Willis’ wife, Emma Heming, shares a heartbreaking video of him after his dementia diagnosis.

Almost ten years have passed since Emma Heming and Bruce Willis got married. Heming is keeping her vow to be there “in sickness and in health” despite Bruce’s diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia. She can’t help but reflect on moments when Bruce was healthier and cherish those memories.

Since her husband was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, Emma Heming has pressed on. To ensure her husband gets the best care possible, the former model is working with dementia experts. “My grief can be crippling, but I’m learning to live with it. Grief is the purest and most profound form of love, as my stepdaughter [Scout Willis] once told me,” Emma said in 2022. “I hope that also gives you some solace.”

In March 2023, Emma shared a photo on Instagram of herself and a woman she identified as Teepa Snow, a professional who helps families learn to deal with dementia. Heming mentioned how Snow is giving her more tools for her “toolbox for dementia care.”

Heming’s dedication to providing the best care for her husband is evident in her actions. However, that week she discovered a new Instagram feature. Instagram’s memory feature allows you to view images or videos you’ve previously posted to the app. Heming saw a memory she had posted about Willis a year prior, praising him. She re-posted the video with the caption, “What’s this new Memory thingy on IG!? Omg, my biggest fan. He is the love of my life.”

In the video, Bruce is heard declaring that he is “crazy” about his wife’s Cocobaba skincare line. Heming is clearly reminiscing about a time when Willis was perhaps doing better than he is now. Recently, images surfaced showing the celebrity out and about in Los Angeles, buying a coffee. Willis has kept a low profile since his aphasia diagnosis, so this sighting was unusual. The family has been incredibly open and transparent about Bruce’s health and diagnosis. The action star’s health issues were previously described in a statement on Instagram. His daughter Rumer Willis wrote, “Our family wanted to start by expressing our deepest gratitude for the incredible outpouring of love, support, and wonderful stories we have all received since sharing Bruce’s original diagnosis.”

She continued, “In the spirit of that, we wanted to give you an update about our beloved husband, father, and friend since we now have a better understanding of what he is going through. Since we reported Bruce’s aphasia diagnosis in spring 2022, his condition has worsened, and we now have a more precise diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (also known as FTD). While it was painful, they were still appreciative that Willis had finally received the correct diagnosis. To help Willis cope with his deteriorating cognitive abilities, the directors who had previously worked with him reportedly tried to make things as simple as possible for him.

The cast and crew of White Elephant claimed they would “feed” the actor lines, and sometimes he would not even understand the line, just mimicking what he had been told. White Elephant is the most recent film the actor is scheduled to appear in. It was less about annoyance and more about “how do we not make Bruce look bad?” a crew member later said in response to the incident. He was merely a puppet. As the Willis family navigates this challenging period, we offer our best wishes. Please join us in keeping them in your thoughts and prayers.
