A woman with Canc*r marries in a hospital, and her spouse falls apart as he looks into her eyes 18 hours later.

The wedding day is usually filled with love, joy, and happy tears. Tens of thousands of marriages take place every day under these circumstances. However, the marriage of David and Heather Mosher was far from typical.

In 2015, when Heather and David first met, they fell deeply in love. Their connection was evident from the start when they met during a dance class.

On December 23, 2016, Dave got down on one knee and proposed to Heather. It was a magical moment as they rode together in a horse-drawn carriage under the gentle glow of the streetlights.

Heather joyfully said “yes,” but soon their happiness would be overshadowed.
On the day of their engagement, Heather shared with David that she had discovered a breast lump that might be cancerous.

Five days later, she received devastating news: her breast cancer was highly aggressive, and her prognosis was grim.

Originally planning to marry on December 30, 2017, the couple realized they had to move up their wedding date due to the rapid progression of Heather’s cancer.

The presence of metastases, or secondary tumors, often determines the severity of a patient’s cancer. Heather’s condition was deteriorating rapidly.

But on December 22, after over a year of engagement, the day had finally arrived. Despite Heather being in the hospital, a beautiful wedding took place surrounded by family and friends.

Christina Karas, one of Heather’s closest friends, bridesmaids, and a backup photographer, said Heather was determined to marry her soulmate.

By then, Heather’s body was frail, and her family was ready to use her dress as a blanket to keep her warm.

When she finally put on the gown in the hospital chapel, the wedding could officially begin.
Despite the effort it took for Heather to move and speak, she summoned the courage to exchange her vows.
She knew these would be her final words, and she was at peace with that.

Christina recalled, “It was a miracle. She raised her arms, knowing she was dying, but she was happy. She just wanted a joyful atmosphere.”

“Everyone was in tears,” Christina continued. “We knew it was our last chance to be with her, so we cherished every moment.”
Despite the sadness that overshadowed David’s day, it was also filled with love.

“She was beautiful and calm,” David said. “I saw her pain. She was clearly hurting, but she persisted and married me in the end. It’s incredible how much you can love someone.”

Heather took her final breath.
“Yes,” Heather replied, before passing away 18 hours later at the age of 31.

On the day they had originally planned to marry, December 30, Heather’s funeral was held at the Plantsville Congregational Church, the same place they had chosen for their wedding.

“It was a very tough day,” Christina said. “A wonderful person left this world.”
Afterward, Christina shared photos of the couple from their wedding, photos that have touched hearts around the globe.
While this story has had its share of sorrow, I hope it serves as an inspiration to many.

It illustrates the power of love, even in the face of despair. People have an incredible will to live when they are driven by their dreams.

If David and Heather’s love story has touched you, please share it with others so they can read it too.
