Former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, a Republican who has endorsed President Joe Biden’s reelection bid, described having a grisly reaction to adult film star Stormy Daniels’ testimony in former President Donald Trump’s hush-money trial.
During an interview on CNN, Duncan was asked what was going through his mind when he watched Daniels’ testimony, which included claims that Trump compared her favorably to his eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump.
“Well, other than wanting to vomit?” he replied. “Look, you can tell a lot about a person how they act in private, right? And just watching this unpack for Donald Trump how he conducted himself behind the scenes in his personal life, whether it be his personal finances, whether it be his personal relationships, whether it be in inappropriate relationships, that tells me what somebody is going do in a real job. And Donald Trump’s not prepared to be an authentic leader.”
Duncan emphasized that he voted for Trump in both 2016 and 2020, but he insists now that he regrets doing so and would not vote for him again.
“I made a mistake both times,” he said. “I should have found somebody other than him to put on the ballot.”
Duncan is one of many Republicans who have said they will not back Trump in the 2024 election, as former Vice President Mike Pence, former House Speaker Paul Ryan, Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT), and former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) have all said they will not support him this year.
However, Duncan is one of the few Republicans to actually endorse Biden despite having significant political disagreements with his administration, as he simply believes that a second Trump term will be so disastrous that the country cannot risk it.
