Urgent Manhunt for Cleveland Shooting Suspect Continues as Law Enforcement Receives False Tips

In the midst of a sweeping manhunt for the Cleveland shooting suspect Francisco Oropesa, residents in the area are speaking out about the violent and deadly incident that occurred four days ago. Despite receiving tips from the public on Monday, law enforcement officials have yet to capture the suspect.

The search for Oropesa intensified as authorities swarmed the areas where people believed they had spotted him, all within a 20-minute drive of the shooting site. Five schools in the area also went on high alert, securing their campuses and bringing everyone inside. Unfortunately, the efforts of law enforcement proved futile as Oropesa remains at large.

Oropesa allegedly killed five of his neighbors, including a 9-year-old boy, on Friday evening after a neighbor had asked him to stop firing off his gun in his yard. The victims were between the ages of 9 and 31 and all were believed to be from Honduras. San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers reported that all victims were shot “from the neck up.”

The victims were identified as Sonia Argentina Guzman, 25; Diana Velazquez Alvarado, 21; Julisa Molina Rivera, 31; Jose Jonathan Casarez, 18; and Daniel Enrique Laso, 9.

Capers stated that there were 10 people in the house at the time of the shooting, some of whom had just moved in earlier in the week, but that no one else was injured. In an apparent attempt to shield two children, two of the victims were found in a bedroom lying over them.

Three children found covered in blood in the home were taken to a hospital but were found to be uninjured, according to Capers.

Distressed and frightened, residents have reported that reckless behavior similar to Oropesa’s is a common occurrence in the area. They feel unsafe and have voiced their concerns about the safety of their families and community.

In an interview with one of the local residents, they said, “It’s terrifying to think that something like this could happen right in our own neighborhood. It makes me worry about the safety of my own family and what else could happen if this man isn’t caught soon.”

With the manhunt ongoing, residents remain on edge as law enforcement officials continue their efforts to bring Oropesa to justice. The community is coming together to support each other during this difficult time, as they remain hopeful for a resolution to this tragedy.
