In a harrowing incident that occurred near Lake Worth on Monday evening, a person has been taken into police custody in connection with a shooting that is believed to have resulted from a road-rage incident. The events unfolded shortly after 8:45 p.m., when Fort Worth police officers were dispatched to the 6800 block of northwest Loop 820 to assist Lake Worth authorities with their response to a crash that involved a person who had been shot.
Thankfully, there were no injuries that required medical treatment as a result of either the shooting or the crash, according to Fort Worth police. However, it is still unclear what led to the shooting or the events that followed.
Police have revealed that a man who was involved in the incident had an altercation with someone at BoomerJack’s Grill, a local eatery that is situated close to where the crash occurred. The man in question stated that he left the restaurant and was driving westbound on the service road of northwest 820 when he noticed someone following him in a separate vehicle.
According to police reports, this individual then fired at the man’s vehicle, causing him to lose control and crash into another vehicle near the intersection of Navajo Trail. The person who fired the shots then fled the scene, but was subsequently apprehended at a nearby location, according to Fort Worth police.
Lake Worth police also tweeted about the incident, stating that “two suspects,” at least one of whom was armed, had been taken into custody in the 7000 block of Navajo Trail. It remains unclear whether the person taken into custody by Fort Worth police was one of the suspects referred to in Lake Worth police’s tweet.
The shooting has left many in the area shaken, with residents expressing their concerns about the prevalence of road rage and gun violence. One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, spoke out about the incident, saying, “It’s just really scary. You never know what could happen when you’re out on the road. I hope the police are able to get to the bottom of this and bring whoever is responsible to justice.”
The incident is still under investigation by Fort Worth police, who are working to piece together the events that led up to the shooting and identify any other individuals who may have been involved.
